After completing matric, I took a gap year in which I joined Trulife, a non-profit organization which travelled to schools around the province, discussing difficult topics that relate to children, by using the performing arts. On my days off from Trulife, I would coach Judo for Durban Martial Arts Academy. I was then offered a position at Westville Boys High School in 2017, as part of the Learnership program. I have taught GET drama for 4 years and am interested in teaching History and English. While working at Westville, I have studied a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English and History. I have met the required credits to graduate, I am just waiting for final confirmation from UNISA.From my time at Westville Boys’ High School, I am grateful to have gained valuable experience and expanded my interest in the following:• All aspects of the performing arts, from working with drama students, aiding them in their practical work, to the technical running of a theatre;• The teaching of drama in the classroom;• The running of various task teams, such as the Students Christian Association and the Cultural Task Team.
