Creator of WIRED's Beer Robot. Reporting areas of expertise include earth sciences, satellite imagery and remote sensing, maps and mapmaking, particle physics, history of science, space missions, space imagery, animal behavior, beer and brewing. Led WIRED to Webby Awards for online science coverage in 2009, 2012 and 2014.

Responsible for coverage of science and four national laboratories (Lawrence Livermore, Lawrence Berkeley, Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories). Reported on all fields of science (locally and beyond) including space, physics, earth science, climate, environment, ecology, biology, chemistry, materials science, engineering, medicine, neuroscience, psychology and animal behavior. Covered science at the national laboratories as well as policy, labor relations, economics, history, legal issues and public safety. Won several local journalism awards as well as the AGU's David Perlman award for breaking news for coverage related to the 100th anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
