As part of the web team, I was responsible for building and maintaining sites spanning most of AMA's business units. The other web developers and myself were involved from implementing design mockups through to interfacing with backend services which housed most of the business logic. These sites included purchasing and managing memberships, licence plate renewals, reloading gift cards, home and auto insurance quotes, driver education course registrations, and a map tool aggregating traffic/weather/road condition/etc. data. We also built supporting services, such as a single sign-on OAuth2 provider, API gateway for consistent interactions with backend and external services, and custom integrations into our shared Hipchat rooms. In addition to my role as a senior developer, I took on the responsibilities of Scrum Master for my last 8 months. During this time, I was able to guide my already efficient team towards further improvements, provide guidance to new Product Owners and Scrum Masters on other teams, along with facilitating backlog prioritization with up to 6 Product Owners working with my team at once.We placed a strong emphasis on user experience and code quality while following development best-practices such as: source control with CI and a well-defined code review process, scripted cloud server builds and code deployments, centralized logging and exception reporting, without losing sight of our technical debt and the need for continuous improvement.Ruby on Rails and JavaScript (CoffeeScript) were our main languages, but there were of course countless other tools and technologies involved, which any modern web developer needs to be proficient in.

I worked remotely with another developer and designer to develop a new web site for the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. The site featured a Composite C1 CMS and interfaced with an external artwork database. I implemented image caching from the external system, user management and favourites, along with significant CMS custom components.
