Hello there! I'm Katie Johnson, and I'm a Professor of Mathematics at Florida Gulf Coast University, with a focus on graph theory, combinatorics, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. One of my deepest passions is promoting diversity and inclusivity in STEM, and I'm dedicated to encouraging underserved groups to explore the fascinating world of mathematics.As an educator, I love teaching both lower and upper-level math courses and have been involved in co-teaching a pedagogy course for our Learning Assistants (LA) program. I take immense pride in directing the LA program, which started during my leadership on a Noyce Track 1 grant, first as co-PI and then as lead-PI. My contributions to the field also include co-authoring a Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) workbook for liberal arts math and co-authoring book chapters on STEM education.Apart from my academic pursuits, I find joy in discovering new destinations through ✈️ travel, immersing myself in captivating 📚 books, trying out new recipes in the kitchen 🍳, finding inner peace through 🧘🏼‍♀️ yoga, and spending quality time with my two young kids. I am thrilled to connect with others who share my love for mathematics and are equally dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.I am a firm believer in collaboration and empowering students.
