Spent 5 weeks as a research intern at the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Research Strategy, a school within the university which has the sole purpose of educating high-ranking military and civilian government officials who will go on to have crucial roles in the national security of the United States. Specific responsibilities included: researching the current status of the Merida Initiative, the law enforcement agreement between the U.S. and Mexico, finding Spanish sources pertaining to the growing relationship between China and Mexico for a distinguished civilian professor, investigating the current changes in Mexican energy policy under the Nieto Administration for a State Department Official, and aiding a military psychologist in translating a chapter of his book into Spanish. Unique opportunities included: witnessing the students participate in a National Security Strategy Exercise, attending research presentations typically reserved for distinguished visitors, and the opportunity to see how the country operates at the strategic level pertaining to national security.
