Director And Head Of DiscoveryBreakloop BioNew York, Ny, Us -
Director & Head Of DiscoveryBreakloop Bio Aug 2023 - PresentUs / Uk / Eu / AsiaBreakloop is a distributed drug-discovery lab & development partner.🔍 Feedback loops in excitotoxicity and E:I balance, HPA/SNS regulation, synaptogenesis, immunoregulation, mitochondrial function, C/A-fibre sensitivity, circadian rhythm, and aversion/reward processing. As a discovery lab we target cutting-edge (or sometimes forgotten...) pharmacological mechanisms missing from the market, that we know can change lives. We start with advanced lead molecules from nature or the preclinical/patent graveyard, and make them useful either with structural/activity improvements or with precise prodrug and salt/cocrystal strategies. As a development partner we're focused on leveraging our IP portfolio through licensing and spinouts to bring novel natural molecules to market as supplements, as well as advance pharma molecules closer to the clinic. We build primarily for illnesses that are often considered untreatable (from Long-Covid/CFS to MS, TBI to Alzheimer's and aging) or for which existing treatments are notoriously problematic (e.g. chronic pain, stress, depression, and ADHD). We have a small core team, contract to and collaborate with CROs as well as academics, welcome guidance from advisors, and actively develop strategic research and commercial partnerships. We're flexible, so if you're interested in joining or contributing in some way, stay in touch. 👋 - - -We believe that medicines should be truly safe when used alone or in combination for complex illnesses. The best ones should accrue benefit instead of tolerance/dependence, heal but also prevent illness, and target processes that underly many illnesses along with overall health/longevity.We're patient led, advised, and inspired — in support of decentralised science and regulatory reform, towards better mechanism-disease models, less risks for uninformed patients, and more freedom for the informed. -
Head Of ProductSalve Apr 2024 - PresentUs / EuSalve is a developer and supplier of health products containing exclusive/novel natural molecules. We're focused on formulating products for the supplement market targeting general health & longevity, as well as later exploring clinical and OTC opportunities in neurological, metabolic, inflammatory and pain indications. -
AdvisorStealth Mode Biotech Jun 2024 - PresentKoreaAn established stem-cell biotech that is expanding to include discovery/preclinical biology CRO, synthetic bio/microbial fermentation CDMO, and small-molecule/peptide R&D and commercial (supplement and clinical) pursuits within Asia.Discovery/preclinical activities focused on assaying and animal models relevant to chronic neurological and immune disorders as well as aging.Synbio/fermentation activities focused on manufacturing of novel/high-value natural small-molecules.Hiring biologists (particularly for synbio/fermentation) for lab in Seoul. Also open to new mission-aligned partners during expansion/restructuring period. Message me if interested in more info. -
AdvisorEnigma Therapeutics Mar 2023 - PresentIndia / KoreaEnigma Therapeutics is a distributed drug-discovery & development partner intent on solving unique challenges to serve those in need. We're building a network of wholly-owned, partnered, and subcontracted labs as part of a mission to collaborate with our friends in the academic, pharma/biotech, DeSci, and CRO/CDMO community to advance meaningful therapeutics. If you're looking for chemistry CRO/CDMO services then we're ready to help however we can (within any structure — FFS, FTE, revenue-share, IP-share, etc).If you're offering chemistry or biology CRO/CDMO services then consider becoming a provider for our internal or partnered R&D.And most of all if you're passionate about the therapeutics mission then consider joining us. See our page for hiring/partnering info. -
Advisor & Project ManagerCfs/Lc Research Dec 2021 - Mar 2023GermanyAdvising a biomed non-profit in pharmacological literature review, target/mechanism prioritisation, and candidate molecule choice to supplement an existing screening library for pipeline of studies around CFS/ME and Long-Covid.Project management covering triaging of compounds on synthetic accessibility, matching to suitable Chinese and Indian CROs, and overseeing execution/troubleshooting. ~10x cost reduction over one year.

Biomed Student/ResearcherSelf-Employed Oct 2014 - Dec 2021Independent student of neuroscience/biology/pharmacology; meta researcher with systems biology/bioinformatics approach across most subdomains, receptors/protein targets, and (acquired/non-genetic) disease states. Inspired by the fields of complex systems and computing (themselves largely inspired by cellular biology...). Most interested in how complex regulatory/signalling networks become dysregulated, runaway positive feedback loops, desensitised negative feedback loops, homeostasis and allostatic load, pharmacological tolerance and dependence/withdrawal, etc. etc. Looking towards a future where medicines cure underlying disease states by reversing dysregulation and locking in non-pathological homeostatic set-points (vs. most current drugs which suppress symptoms but recruit homeostatic counterforces to deepen dysregulation/disease). Extremely impressed/optimistic regarding cellular/mechanistic science (current literature and future directions). Less so with the status quo of animal/human disease models, clinical medicine/market, and regulatory/economic forces shaping them (not exactly a controversial perspective — effective drugs slowing down, R&D costs going up, chronic disease rates up, and industry awash with 'crises' of reproducibility/efficacy and iatrogenic harm...).

Software Researcher/DeveloperSelf-Employed Feb 2012 - Feb 2020Researching UX and designing/developing macOS/iOS apps for OS multitasking, music listening/sharing, meta research, and knowledge management.Notable projects include 'Gestr' macOS app for rapid activation of apps/bookmarks/scripts via trackpad drawings/gestures, and 'Knock' iOS 7 substrate-tweak for triggering different actions by tapping on front/back/side of device (which Apple introduced into iOS 14 as "back tap" accessibility feature).
