After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a BS in Economics. I started my career at Oracle in software sales, where I honed my communication and client relationship skills. I quickly realized I enjoyed working in excel more than making sales calls and transitioned into finance and accounting.The next stop on my journey was State Street Bank where I spent 4 years as a fund accountant for large pension fund clients. During this time, I excelled at developing and running processes for client reporting, account reconciliation and financial statement preparation. My excel skills quickly expanded as I became a certified VBA developer within the company allowing me to work with multiple teams to create excel macros that streamlined their daily and monthly processes.I enjoyed many aspects of my time there including working collaboratively with some of the leading pension funds, the joy of solving an outstanding accounting break and the satisfaction of closing the monthly books after many late nights.From there, I transitioned to a role as a Pension Fund Consultant at SitusAMC, working on a commercial real estate financing program for a large pension fund client. In this role I was able to work on all aspects of the program such as originating the credit facilities, preparing term sheets for new loans, monthly invoicing, monitoring wire activity, consolidating financial statements and reporting loan performance.I am very thankful to be a part of a small team working on such a unique program. To be able to work with our client on a program that provides their real estate investments with flexible and competitive financing has been very rewarding. Also seeing the program grow with the addition of a second pension fund is a testament to the value we are able to provide.Outside of work I enjoy learning about new software, such as Microsoft Power BI, Fusion 360 and Python. Trying different types of coffee and watching Formula 1 racing.I have also developed a strange obsession studying the economics of parking and the impacts of parking regulations. I never thought reading about parking could be so interesting but after reading the High Cost of Free Parking I consider myself a Shoupista now.
