Process Engineer and head of Continuous Improvement at the Ravensdown Dunedin Works (A manufacturer of sulphuric acid and superphosphate fertiliser).Major projects completed include a dust extraction system, a new stormwater system for the sulphuric acid plant, recycle of site-wide stormwater solids, catalyst replacement in the sulphuric acid plant, and an automated spray system for applying liquid additives to fertiliser. I also have substantial operating experience and have led several trial runs for new fertiliser products.I have experience with scrubber systems, stormwater systems, dust suppression methods, catalysts, reaction dens, heat exchanger systems, superheated steam, process control, quality control, material handling and environmental monitoring.While at Ravensdown I have managed multiple contractors and supervised several students through part time positions and have been a key contributor to health and safety onsite.

-Gained operational and design experience in a Major Hazards Facility-Experience with SCADA systems, volatile hydrocarbons at an industrial scale, distillation processes, a solvent extraction process, heat exchangers, decanters and absorption and desorption columns.-Key player in site safety culture, designed safety improvements and took an active role in the investigation of a major incident onsite.

Planning and supervising fire tests, preparing technical reports and providng technical opinions, project management, lab and equipment maintenance, liaising with national and international clients and assisting with a research project being conducted for MBIE. The fire tests are primarily for building, construction and marine industries.

-Head of production of the Silicon Nitride nano-fibre pilot plant. This involved designing, commissioning and operating a production plant, managing the production team, developing health and safety procedures for the plant and providing input into the control system.-Have led and been involved in multiple design projects, utilizing such programs as Solidworks and Microsoft Excel and collaborating with design engineers from Weltec and Industrial Research Ltd.-Carried out design and economic modeling for an industrial scale nano-fibre production plant.-Have developed a wide range of practical “hands-on” skills by involving myself in laboratory, workshop and equipment maintenance work.

-Gained practical working experience with high performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography and photospectrometry.-Been involved with the running and optimization of a fast internally circulating fluidized bed biomass gasifier.-Helped with the operation and testing of a tar cleaning system.-Researched the fluid dynamics of a laboratory scale cold model fast internally circulating fluidized bed gasifier.
