About Mathias Gran, Mba

Executive Director @ Brooks Stevens • MBA Adjunct Faculty @ The University of Denver • Creator of Awesome Points App, Work With Feelings LLC, Agile Data Science LLC.These commitments are different representations of fostering deep connection and a call for us to recognize the overwhelming opportunity to be here, notice, experience, and express. At Brooks Stevens I get to be an entrepreneur every day. In discovering, designing, developing, and deploying new-to-world products, we create moments in peoples’ lives that inspire gratitude, joy, and wonder. It’s a big idea, a bigger privilege, and we sum it up by saying “Design Matters.” Our namesake was a legendary industrial designer, contributing some of the most iconic designs in American history – nearly 50 vehicles, thousands of consumer products, and brand identities that are powerfully relevant 70 years later. At the University of Denver, I teach leadership and development through neuroscience and emotional intelligence. In small cohorts, I have the privilege of facilitating transformative introspection and self-discovery for those who are ready to explore (and drop!) self-limiting narratives and behaviors. In doing so, these talented leaders become prepared to notice, facilitate, and celebrate development of others. The Awesome Points App mends strained relationships between parents and children by creating positive structure, language, and behavior patterns that build trust and connection in small, safe steps. It trains kids to choose and recognize awesome behaviors (“I did that!”) and it trains parents to PAY ATTENTION and NOTICE those awesome behaviors (“You did that!”). Being a parent is really, really hard. We are not our best, often. Awesome Points helps.Work With Feelings is an organization I formed to live my leadership values. I have an absurd confidence that feelings belong at work… because they’re already there. Denying that feelings exist, drive decisions, and shape interactions every moment of the day is short-sighted at best. Long-term muting of this natural part of our existence perpetuates harm and suffering, preventing actual growth and development for individuals, teams, and organizations. If you made it this far and are an actual human, thank you. If I can help you or someone you know, please reach out.I would love help connecting with Product, Design, and UX leaders in the Denver area. I would also love for you to try Awesome Points if you’re a parent with kids at home.Book FREE 15min Intro: https://calend.ly/chat-with-mathias/intro-callMore me: https://mathiasgran.com

  • Work With Feelings
    Founder And People Champion
Work With Feelings Oct 2021 - Present
    Denver, Colorado, United States
Work With Feelings: It's Work. With Feelings. Work With Feelings was born out of a pattern of powerful personal growth experiences that I facilitated for formal and informal leaders, from first-time managers in startups to established executives in global organizations. When these leaders began connecting to the experiences of their employees, becoming introspective, curious, leading with their heart and their lived truth, a fresh perspective emerged on what it means to be a leader, a manager, a person. We serve leaders who understand there is another workplace experience possible, but need help implementing it. We understand that most executive calendars are tight. We understand that even with executive support, shifting attitudes and behaviors is a messy undertaking. And we know what is possible when you develop authenticity in presence and narrative, provide the resources to enable the shift, and support the experience with thoughtful professionals. If you are that leader, or you want to become that leader, I'd love to meet you.
  • Agile Data Science Llc
    Founder And Principal Coach
Agile Data Science Llc Jun 2021 - Present
    Denver, Colorado, United States
Agile Data Science: Predictability First. If there's one thing we can deliver an executive team, it's predictability. And it's a godsend. In over a decade of experience bringing Agile mindsets, processes, and tools to software teams, a few key challenges appear in almost every organization. Over-commitment, imbalance of influence from product teams, misinterpreting points as value, and lack of maturity or awareness of effective data narratives and measurement for Agile teams. We built a set of analytics tools that drive conversations toward what we know works, starting with predictability. Our storytelling is deeply rooted in data analysis, developing hypotheses to test and observe while supporting the managerial intelligence required to drive change adoption. Combining these tools with proper narrative, we have seen teams, divisions, and country units with chronic over-commitment and focus challenges move from meeting 60% of stated goals to 100% within 6 months. Our web-based tools can be purchased independently, or can be combined with hands-on Agile Coaching to teams that desire more support.
