An experience that has stuck with me was when I had interned for the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library who had partnered with the American Library Association to bring my community the Americans and the Holocaust traveling exhibition.This exhibition had brought forth a different perspective of the holocaust, viewed through the lens of the United States. Beyond this unique perspective I was fortunate to be involved with community members who had themselves or had family members survive the horrors of the holocaust. Learning of these first hand accounts have pushed me to consistently evolve my perspective of the other. To take in these unique experiences of marginalized groups so that I may be able to view the world outside of my own personal narrative.Since this opportunity I have made it my passion to bring to the world a perspective that does not exclude the other. To create an environment that is welcoming to all, because as we begin to accept a diverse and inclusive world then we can create an understanding that will leave behind our past of indifference.
