Walking On Ice- Received a BISP fellowship to go to Iceland during summer 2012 to conduct research for a collaborative audio-visual installation.- Managed $12,000 budget, coordinated accommodations, planned two month itinerary- Lived in Reykjavik and a number of small towns- Worked and performed with local musicians and visited museums, galleries, concert halls/music venues- Documented sounds of Iceland’s natural phenomena such as geysers, glaciers, and boiling mud pots- Composed a series of acoustic and electronic pieces based on Icelandic folk songs and natural found sounds respectively- Orchestrated the work for 10 piece ensemble including flute, bass clarinet, alto/soprano sax, tenor sax, trumpet/flugelhorn, violin, cello, bass, piano, and percussion- Organized, rehearsed, and managed a ten piece ensemble- Recorded, edited and mixed the works- Constructed and produced the Walking on Ice installation opening with a live performanceTo see what we did in Iceland follow the link below: To hear and see the work follow this link below:
