Implemented software and hardware systems to support weather forecasting operations at aerospace rocket launch sites. This involved design and automation of system architecture utilizing virtualization tools such as VMWare to automatically deploy a virtual machine cluster on on-premise blade server hardware. Additional skills included the automatic deployment and administration of RedHat Linux systems.Deployed a complex weather forecasting model to gather data from satellite sensors, ground instruments, and weather radar, and then incorporated all data sources into the weather model on a RedHat Linux system to generate a weather forecast for use in aerospace launch planning. Designed new software tools to actuate this model using JAVA, Python, Spring, and REST APIs.Developed a new DevOps pipeline procedure focused on using Kubernetes for the continuous integration of new applications working with Docker, RedHat Openshift, and Rancher container technologies. I was part of a team implementing security hardening on a large satellite control system. This has included technical research into securing many different technologies platforms present on the system, writing Chef scripts to automate security procedures, and writing technical documentation to outline the procedures. I also managed my team's software efforts using Gitlab and Jenkins.I wrote a document parsing program using Python with the goal of helping to prevent the leak of classified information.I worked on a research and development project to create new devices which will protect aircraft from cyberthreats. This involved planning and logistics for lab materials, object-oriented software design, and the design of an algorithm to implement the main functionality of the device for which I received a patent. The majority of programming was done using C++. I also created several technical presentations to demonstrate the findings of the project.
