Managing Director
Full management of the business. Responsibilities include Sales, Project managment and consultancy aspects. As well as all the day to day requirements of a business.The business is now focussing entirely on the Education sector sites with a specialism in Primary school environments. These environments prove to be quite challenging due their dynamic and fluid use of IT both in the classroom and mobile throughout school and grounds.Walton Primary school in Wakefield has now been fully adapted to use Windows 8 throughout school using both desktop and tablet devices. This is the first full roll out of a windows 8 environment in the Wakefield district.In October 2015 we installed a brand new refitted IT suite with Windows 10 (see image). The first full Windows 10 implementation in the district.
It Support (Education)
• Designing and planning WSUS deployment across the network. Previously no systems in place to deal with updates. Training staff on the use and effective monitoring of patch levels.Including all levels of management.• Design and implementation of fully automated script based backups of each individual Domain Controller/File server to tape and disk drives. Training staff on effective use and monitoring.• Operational responsibility for over 150 Windows 2000/2003/2008 servers in a multiple-forest Active Directory deployment supporting 150 sites across West Yorkshire.• Proactive management of customer’s information systems in line with ITIL best practice• Development, design and implementation of automated deployment systems using single key press to rebuild domain joined machines.• Development and implementation of software deployment across the domains.
It Systems Officer
Implemented Exchange 2000/2003 clustered e-mail solution. Migrated several thousand end user customer mailboxes and public folders from previously unstable Exchange 5.5 systems, providing substantially more stable messaging and collaboration environment. Solution went live in February 2003 and encountered only 12 minutes of scheduled downtime until it was replaced with Exchange 2003 as part of IT Infrastructure Improvement Programme in March 2005.• Involvement with Microsoft SMS 2003 project; responsible implementation of SMS solution across over 150 locations, forming part of configuration management database to support Trust’s service improvement programme and ITIL alignment, and providing remote support functionality to improve end user experience of dealing with IT.• Designed and produced the Trust’s disaster recovery plan, demonstrating successful test restores of Active Directory, Exchange, and major HP-UNIX based clinical applications at an off-site DR facility in Heathrow, London.• Extensive work for a project to provide Microsoft Exchange to general practices, migrating approximately 1,000 user mailboxes from a legacy Novell GroupWise system.• Extended the Trust’s enterprise-wide Sophos antivirus agreement to cover general practice creating a standardised antivirus solution across all customers and offering GPs a managed antivirus service. This was later replaced with CA’s E-Trust AV suite.
