Matt joined Rodgers Leask Ltd's (RLL) Traffic and Transportation team in September 2013 and was promoted to the position of Senior Engineer in September 2015. On a day-to-day basis Matt's role primarily involves providing the necessary services and technical input to deliver planning approval for private developer's proposed schemes. This service comprises comprehensive technical management of pre-planning transport related projects, the production of all aspects of Transport Assessments and Travel Plans including client liaison, fee proposals, time/budget management, invoicing, management of junior staff members, production of reports, calculations and modelling work. In addition, Matt is heavily involved in development the of the Transportation Department's client base and wider RLL marketing strategy. Working closely with RLL's Board Directors and Marketing team, Matt is part of a growing team that is striving to provide new innovations and refining existing working practices to improve efficiency and deliver high quality products for clients.

Matt joined the pre-planning team at M-EC as a Transportation Engineer in September 2011 and was promoted to Senior Transportation Engineer after quickly becoming a key member of a four man team. Initially responsible for the production of all elements of Transport Assessments including scoping out the project methodology with local highway authorities, undertaking the assessment work and producing the reports Matt’s role evolved into a more senior position. In his time at M-EC greater involvement with clients, local highway and planning authorities as well as members of the public through the consultation process greatly increased Matt’s knowledge and experience of the planning system. A key part of Matt’s job was to ensure that M-EC’s reports continually adapted to consider bespoke issues on projects in order to ensure the delivery of a successful planning application. As a project manager Matt was also responsible for all elements of project management including client liaison, deadline monitoring, budget management and invoicing as well as the supervision and development of a Transportation Engineer and a Graduate Engineer through on-the-job training. Matt continued to develop his technical knowledge and skills on relevant software packages and has attended training courses at TRL and JCT to learn how to use ARCADY 8 and LinSig 3.2 as well seeking out new approaches to pre-planning projects in response to recent National and Local Government policy changes to the planning process such as “localism” and the National Planning Policy Framework.

Part of the Traffic & Transportation team at Waterman’s Lockington Office (nr East Midlands Airport). Matt has gained technical and administrative experience working with public and private sector clients on a wide range of highways projects.Matt’s day-to-day role is mainly focused on providing transportation input and advice into planning applications for proposed developments. He is particularly experienced in the production of all aspects Transport Assessments, Travel Plan report documents, Road Safety Audits and Environmental Statements.He has gained knowledge of relevant transport planning guidance and relevant Design Standards including the Guidance on Transport Assessment, the DfT Circular 02/2007 – Planning and the Strategic Road Network and planning Policy Guidance 13 and DMRB (TA46/97, TA79/99, TD22/06, TD16/07, and TD42/95). Although not yet RoSPA certified, Matt also has sound knowledge of DMRB HD19/03. He has also provided pre/post application input for Client and Local Authority discussions regarding Section 106/278 agreements.Matt’s technical experience includes working on traffic survey data analysis, multi-modal trip generation (including use of TRICS and application of “first principles” traffic generation, traffic growth (including use of NRTF, TEMPRO & NTM), traffic assignment (including use of national census SWS data for gravity models and interrogation of SATURN models), derivation of AADT flows from peak hour traffic flows, accident analysis (including DMRB Vol 13 Part 4 COBA link analysis) junction & link capacity (TA46/97 & TA79/99) assessments (including construction of PICADY/ARCADY models and basic use of LINSIG/TRANSYT), identification of highway improvements (applying various DMRB design standards), use of GIS MapInfo for graphical presentation of data findings, use of Corel Draw to produce Figures for reports and compilation of Access databases.

Worked in the Borrowing Management department dealing specifically with Egg card and loan accounts that were in financial difficulties. Matt’s role involved monitoring account activity, their payments and status. When necessary Matt issued defaults and terminated accounts as well as updating customers via email, telephone and text messages.•Received training on FDR, GTX, ICBS & Protocol financial computer systems as well as Microsoft Office & Lucent telephones;•On a daily basis Matt was trusted with taking responsible for important, private details and have passed tests on the Data Protection Act, Money Laundering Laws and The Banking Code;•Part of a large team, flexibility and multi-tasking were qualities were frequently required to meet strict deadlines and learn new work processes.

Joined the Estates Team at one of Britain’s largest colleges to be part of a specialist “Move Team” ensuring smooth completion of a dramatic College reorganization project. The project involved closing an existing site and moving hundreds of staff, their equipment, and classroom furniture to a newly built city centre campus.•Part of autonomous three-man team, using a wide range of college vehicles to transfer people and equipment as and when required;•When not moving between sites Matt was based in a bustling office environment. He dealt with enquiries and problems from staff, students and visitors as well as answering telephones, logging deliveries and making deliveries;•Matt’s interpersonal skills, efficiency and organisation were rewarded with several contract extensions after the initial move was completed.

Howardson Ltd manufactures Dennis professional ground maintenance equipment. As a full-time Assembler Matt was part of a flexible production team building the entire range of Dennis ground-care machinery and accessories.•Range was constantly evolving so learning new methods and designs was part of the job;•Solely responsible for mower cassettes; this included learning and refining construction processes for various cassette types, building/repairing the cassettes as well as managing the order lists and stock levels accounting for erratic demands and deadlines;•Mower cassette production output, quality and accuracy significantly improved during Matt’s time at Howardson Ltd.
