I am a former NERC Sr. Reliability Specialist at NAES Corporation where I was able to share my understanding of NERC Reliability Standards and power plant operations with a team of NERC Services consultants serving a broad range of clients’ needs – including independent power plants, utilities, and asset management firms. Our mission is to efficiently and effectively deliver the highest quality, technically sound, customer-oriented NERC assistance, guidance, programs and tools for NAES power plants and external clients.I am a former Senior Manager - Risk and Compliance at General Electric Renewable Energy - Onshore. I was responsible for creating a sustainable NERC Compliance program (FERC 693) for GE North American assets. I was responsible for identifying and mitigating risk associated with the GER Remote Operations Center as well as all OEM contracted GOPs. The North American assets are to be utilized as a global model for GE Renewable Energy worldwide. I have a background as a Sr. O&P Auditor with ReliabilityFirst, a NERC Regional Entity.I have 25 years of electric utility experience which includes performing home energy audits, nuclear generation operations, renewable energy, system protection/SCADA and transmission system operations as a NERC/PJM certified system operator and finally a transmission system control room manager. Working with the Energy Management System was a part of my daily work schedule. I performed contingency analysis studies on each shift for day ahead planning as well as real time switching studies.I have a thorough understanding of the Bulk Electric System and the internal operations of the electric utilities sector. I understand the control room and the effects that working in that environment can weigh on system operators. I understand the hazards of substation work and the need for continuous safety improvement. It is my goal to utilize my experience to assist entities in gaining a better understanding of NERC Reliability Standards as well as offering recommendations to improve overall performance, resulting in increased reliability on the BES.
