Leading the build of a new Solomon Govt Fisheries dept building (funded by World Bank), to be used in conjunction with policing the exclusion zone and protecting their fishing rights.Using predominantly local labour and 4 fellas from Malaita who have become my 'crew' and have worked on previous projects with me. A small but overly complicated steel portal construction that will serve a purpose. However, the main purpose for all this (for me) is the opportunity to engage with, mentor, excite and introduce the local girls and guys into a great team/work ethic. I never fail to be amazed and enthralled at the skills and ideas of these wonderful island nation people.

Subcontracting to W.H.O. for the construction of a new 450M2 mini-hospital, 3 bed Doctors house and 4 bed staff house, in the jungle of Avu Avu, on the Weathercoast of Guadalcanal.Extremely challenging due to remote location, transportation of materials and complete lack of any utilities. Two expats involved, 5 skilled/semiskilled carpenters from Malaita (Solomons), plus up to 12 locals.The whole facility is powered by solar charged lithium batteries, and uses rain catchment to fill x5 8000ltr tanks for all water.The clinic is positioned to cover a vast area of mountain, jungle and coastal villages and will serve between 8 and 9 thousand people, many of whom will be walking 2 to 3 days to reach the clinic.

Construction Manager for the new Fred Hollows Foundation Eye Clinic at Port Vila Central hospital - Vanuatu, involving complete renovation/reform of existing clinic and construction of new surgical facilities, operating theatres and cyclone shelter. Funded by the FHF NZ for the benefit of the Vanuatan people, working alongside and mentoring local labour from foundations to handover. Organisation of overseas subcontractors for specialist work as well as local utility companies, hospital authorities and visiting VIPs.

Tasked with managing an incredibly diverse team of people involving maintenance of a fascility providing high class art and entertainment to the public, including art galleries, sculpture gardens 5* restaurant and Kitchens as well as a Vineyard to produce a harvest after 2 years left fallow.Creating an 'on-site' HS&E plan for all employees and fascilities with back up and on going support from a reputable Safety organisation. During my short time addressing the issues that plagued the organisation I saw that the Vineyard got full accreditation for sustainability and 'Qualmark' rating plus the restaurant attained it's five star rating.I hasten to add that none of this would have been possible without the amazing drive and work ethic of many key members of the Sculptureum 'family'.

Managing the construction project for the new Tuvalu Govt Fisheries building funded by NZ Aid.All building work carried out by locally sourced labour and to be completed to NZ standards using materials shipped from NZ.The project is a 750M2 (approx) single storey portal frame building to house all equipment and communications to facilitate effective policing of Tuvaluan fishing rights and marine reserves.

One of three expats Managing, mentoring and tutoring up to over 100 local semi skilled and non skilled locals in the build of an NZ Aid housing project delivering social housing to Tarawa.Initially 31 duplex two storey houses (62 units) to be built on two separate sites in the next 10 months which will be challenging due to both frequent extended power outages and location.The project aims to up-skill and create a stronger, more sustainable work ethic to be passed on to future generations as well as provide safe, clean and practical homes built to NZ standards.

Development and build of a unique and cutting edge bio-fuel plant combining Gasification and Torrefaction.A bespoke facility with only a few conclusive plans to work from due to the pioneering nature of the project.A wide skillset with an open mind is required. Although frustrating and challenging this is beginning to show every sign of success and is fast becoming one of the most interesting projects I have been involved in to date.

FIFO role as a member of the install team building the NRPC (Nauru Regional Processing Centre). Working mostly with installation of pre-fabricated buildings, steel construction, concrete forming and placement. Reading and interpretation of all plans,mentoring of local labour and ensuring the strict guidelines of on site HSE officers are carried out to create a zero harm environment.

Supervising all trades constructing new 40 bed accommodation wing extension to existing station including utility rooms, ablutions and plant room.Supervision of soil remediation project caused by a helo dropping a 200ltr drum of fuel.Various off base tasks for science support in both near and deep field including extensive helicopter ops out to deep field locations to monitor the condition of remote communication installations.Active SAR member.

Supervision of multiple trades involved in major construction and maintenance projects on Station.Remediation and re-anchoring of 1970s deep field science camp at Beaver Lake, a 3 day expedition to ensure adherence to the Antarctic Treaties 'no pollution and no rubbish' policy.Mapping and re-marking (by gps) safe and direct routes out to installations in the field.Active SAR member

Supervisor in charge of multiple trades teams involved in planned building projects, planned maintenance works and pre-emptive maintenance work.Organiser and team leader of multiple ski trips out to remote survival huts for maintenance, re-stocking and some down time.Active SAR member and team leader for various off base tasks involving work and/or recreation activities.

Summer season mostly spent assisting various science events, plus setting up local and remote location camps, either on Ross Island or on the Antarctic mainland.Leader and organiser of the remote relocation traverse for the relocation of the Antarctic Heritage Trust camp based at Shackletons hut in cape Royds, to be moved in its entirety to Scotts hut location at Cape Evans, and rebuild it. Leading member of a 3 person team to find and recover a remote fuel dump used for emergency Polar flight refueling.Three people & three days, dropped off by twin otter and tasked with locating the fuel dump buried within the Darwin Glacier. Extracting, organising and re-mapping newly relocated refueling station for future use.Working alongside Tim Haskill and NIWA, assisting with deployment of various science experimentation devices deployed beneath the annual ice.Assisted USAP in profiling C17 runway towards the end of Winter season.Active SAR member and Chief Fire Officer of Scott Base.Winter season spent with 12 other crew maintaining & servicing entire installation ready for the next Summer season.
