My role at Seymour was one of which I was the sole Management Accountant for the International branch of the business, reporting into a part time financial controller.The role consists of:-• Monthly reporting of all revenue and costs related to the international distribution of magazines.• Reporting of all overheads related to the International side of the business.• A full monthly variance analysis to both budget and forecast.• Production of a monthly management accounts pack to both the Seymour board and external shareholders.• Sole responsibility in the production of the budget and the two mid year forecasts.• Production of the Budget/Forecast board packs giving variance analysis on a publisher and title level.• Liaising with the Operations Manager to control overheads for the business.• Analysis of multi currency transactions and the FX impact of hedged revenues and spot sales to margins.• Review of the pricing model and issuing price point recommendations to magazine publishers relative to fluctuating exchange rates and sales.• Supporting account managers with territory performance analysis.• Full responsibility for completing the yearly audit and producing the Statutory Accounts issued to Companies House.• Balance Sheet Reconciliations.

My role in the position of Business Accountant for the Economist Circulation department consisted of :-• Looking after the monthly accounts for distribution, marketing, European offices and credit control. This involves posting accruals, prepayments, provisions and performing analysis on monthly variances.• Reconciliation of all departmental accounts, including accruals, prepayments, invoices and bank statements.• Monthly reforecasting with department managers• Preparing management presentations to show monthly, quarterly and annual results• Support colleagues with similar tasks for various other parts of the business.In this role it is essential my work is completed in a timely and efficient manner with a high degree of accuracy to meet management expectations of accounts completed within 8 days preceding month end. My job also relied on colleagues in other departments to provide me with accounting data in a timely manner therefore it was important to manage the relationships in order to run the operation smoothly.
