Maintaining the firms’ practice management system, which includes creating workflows to help users get the most out of the system.

Design & develop solutions using the Microsoft Office suite & VBA (mainly Excel, Word, Access and Outlook) according to business requirements and delivered in a timely manor. Focal point for MS Office queries & provide knowledge sharing in various formats (global intranet; WebEx; face-to-face sessions). I set up an Excel Standards group to help define what 'best practice' looks like with the aim of continuously raising the bar (mainly for Actuary & Finance departments with regards to Solvency II regulation of EUCs). Additionally, I developed a number of Excel tools to aid these users with general Solvency II compliance of their workbooks, and implemented Cluster Seven (an enterprise spreadsheet monitoring application).I have also assumed Business Analyst responsibilities for a number of projects during my time at Ace. On one particular project, I created a 'smart' Business Requirements Document which gave users a working example of solution (built in Word VBA), which was welcomed by the business users (as it gave them something physical to see/test) and IT developers (as it was clearer for them to copy the UI / UX and even the code, as it was a VB based application). Typical duties included:- conducting requirement gathering sessions with applicable stakeholders (using common BA methods)- writing up Business Requirements Documents & obtaining sign-off from stakeholders- where applicable, provide mockups / user experience concepts (look & feel)- workflow diagrams & use cases- reviewing System Requirement Documents- conduct or helped with user testing
