Our civil engineering firm not only provides land surveying, civil engineering, and landscape architecture services, but also land use planning and project management through construction.I work in the planning division as a land use planner. My goal is my client's goal. I am eager to help my client achieve their development objective. My background in local jurisdiction planning divisions has given me an advantage of navigating the complex land use process. I enjoy utilizing my planning toolbox to find the right solution to any challenge. I started working for Whatcom County in the Code Enforcement Division- working with property owners to achieve compliance of adopted zoning, critical area, shoreline and building codes. My objective was to excel in code interpretation and enforcement, thus strengthening the community through successful planning. My interest in learning case law, protecting property rights, and enforcing municipal code as well as seeking opportunities to provide creative input in developing efficient policy and effective code afforded me opportunities to move on to the Current Planning Division. As current planner for Whatcom County I enforced the above mentioned adopted codes through successful permit processing and issuance. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the public to help them navigate the county code.

As my career began in Pacific County, I was presented with awesome opportunities to strengthen my communication and outreach skills while acquiring a broader skill set used in the planning arena.In Pacific County:I reviewed development proposals, ensured compliance and consistency with all applicable County and State rules and regulations, determined jurisdictional requirements, ensured compliance and consistency; I was the County representative to state and federal agencies involved in land use review;My assignments in land division, included reviewing short plats, long plats and boundary line adjustments;I was tasked with preparing reports for presentation to the Hearings Officer, Administrator, Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and Board of County Commissioners;My duties included enforcing current zoning, critical areas and resource lands, growth management, road and utility access, stormwater, shorelines and other related rules and development regulations;I also conducted field investigations and inspected sites for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
