While keeping some of the duties of the graduate role, other aspects have expanded - During my time as a civil engineer I had experienced day to day software use and gained expert knowledge of AutoCad, AutoTrack, Civils 3d, Site3D, Innovyze WinDes microdrainage and source control packages.Working as the sole design engineer on multiple large residential, commercial and highway projects; The role includes extensive use of 3d highway levels and storm/foul sewer design and hydraulic analysis, with the creation of cut fill isopachyte feasibility models to ensure the designs are plausible. Leading in the creation of preliminary design, detailed design, setting out information, technical documentation reports and delegation/checking of junior and technicians drawings; Various design submittals consist of Preliminary and Tender packs, Private levels and drainage packs, S38, S278, S7, S104, S106 and Pumping Station design packs.Regularly sort-after by senior staff to find, fix and evaluate an issue that has occured and use my knowledge and skills to ensure the correct solution is found. My specialised software skills and analysis is also used to assist the Geoengineering team with cutfill analysis of preliminary levels, letting them appraise the sites foundation designs, earthworks movements and assist in remediation strategies.I am required to communicate through site visits, design meetings, e-mail and phone conversation with clients and colleagues to establish good working links throughout the project.The latter stages of the position are consisting of an emphasis towards my own project management and fee quotations; pricing of work based upon charge outrates of staff, assessing foreseeable issues and raising them with the client before appraising the contractual agreement.

Supplying general ACAD, Civils 3D, Site 3D and Innovyze microdrainage package design assistance for senior, associate and directors. Assisting in the procurement of projects at all stages through the longevity of the program. Involvement with producing S38, S278, S104, S106 and private works designs for pack submission. The graduate position required elements of site visits, site meetings and client liaisons. I was also involved and directly wrote technical documentation such as drainage inspection, construction inspection, construction completion, drainage strategy, SuDS maintenance, flood risk assessments (FRA) reports.Part of our teams joint responsibilities were in the development of junior staff; Helping junior staff understand the basis of our organization, what we expect and look for in design, how to produce the standards we work to and general engineering practices covered in the ICE.
