About Matthew Brown

I completed my doctoral studies in music composition at the USC Thornton School of Music, where I studied with Morten Lauridsen, Frank Ticheli, and Randy Newman. My choral works have been performed throughout the United States and internationally by groups such as Chanticleer, The Crossing, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, VocalEssence, Antioch Chamber Ensemble, Young New Yorker’s Chorus, Cincinnati Boychoir, Balsai (Lithuania), Kantorei, Chor Obandes (Japan), and Coro de Cámara Ainur (Spain).My arrangements have been performed all over the world, and my orchestrations for pop artist Moby were performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the baton of Maestro Gustavo Dudamel in October 2018. A proud SAG-AFTRA member, I have sung in over twenty feature films, video games, and TV shows.I am active in Los Angeles as a composer, orchestrator, arranger, keyboardist/pianist, educator, and tenor with the Los Angeles Master Chorale. The New York Times described my music as “quietly mesmerizing” and with “...harmonies that build up like delicate snowdrifts” in their review of the Antioch Chamber Ensemble’s album “Though Love Be a Day.” My works are published by Schott (Mainz, Germany), G.
