Well designed CAD models, aligned with production methods, and allowing rapid customization and modification, are tools that can provide benefit across a business. Rapid quote generation, bill of material creation, automated custom shop drawings, configurable models ready for finite element analysis. This is what I do. With 20 years of experience in positions that demand a high level of coordination and communication with coworkers, customers and vendors, I have gained an appreciation for remaining flexible and level-headed. The primary purpose of CAD is clear communication, providing clear and correct information to the users who need it, in a format that suits their needs. A desire to get hands-on is important in a designer and I love a chance to get my hands dirty in the shop. Most wood and metalworking processes are familiar to me and aviation-grade shop safety practices were drilled into me over a decade ago. Prototype creation and reverse engineering are challenges I greatly enjoy. Continuous improvement is a professional and personal goal. Finding ways to use existing tools better can often realize value that was not being leveraged. Through my career I have gained experience by providing CAD support for commercial structural engineering, prototype and production parts and assemblies, injection molding and 3D printing, fab and weld shop, machine and tool design.
