The Tomorrow Project is a social change initiative, with a membership that comprises representatives from the programme’s funding organisations - the Brewers Association of Australia & New Zealand, Spirits New Zealand and New Zealand Winegrowers. The Cheers! Drink Responsibly campaign is designed to support New Zealanders make better decisions when it comes to the way we drink. Although almost 80% of New Zealanders drink sociably and responsibly one in five do not, with younger men and women over-represented in harmful drinking statistics. To change this Cheers! is focussed on improving drinking cultures through attitude and behaviour change.The Tomorrow Project is a specialised social marketing organisation, with capability in media relations and partnerhsips. Matt's leadership skills and experience are supporting raising the profile of the Cheers! programme, and awareness of the issues and solutions associated with our drinking culture in New Zealand.

Water Safety New Zealand is a political advocacy group. Leading a diverse membership to reduce drowning and injury, with functions including evidence, policy and advocacy.Matt led a change process from a programme and regional service provider, into that of a policy body. Central to WSNZ's reinvention was the role it played in uniting the sector. Matt facilitated the development of the New Zealand Water Safety Sector Plan 2020. This visionary document lays out the foundation for improved sector focus to target the horrific New Zealand drowning toll, with Minister endorsement.One of the important levers WSNZ manages is investment into the sector. As a funder and enabler of funding, WSNZ policy guides investment on behalf of government, community trust and commercial funding. With extensive success in securing commercial and grant funding for various initiatives, many partnerships have endured beyond their original contract term and continue to offer benefits to both parties, and the community.A familiar user and practitioner of community development models for strategy and programmes, including the ever popular collective impact principles, and shaping of WSNZ into the backbone role it plays.As spokesperson Matt was responsible for ensuring the integration with sector partners, promotion of water safety issues to the media and building of relationships to achieve action in the community.
