I volunteered at my local swimming club, working with two different groups of children, 6-8 years old and 12-15 years old. I taught fundamental swimming techniques to enhance the children's abilities and confidence in the water. I worked as a lead engineer within the V2X (Vehicle to Everything) Research Team at Jaguar Land Rover. As such, I led a small team of engineers to complete advanced research projects dedicated to the creation and delivery of a V2X hardware platform within our vehicles, and the features that will utilise this platform. In this role I delivered multiple innovative projects and helped to develop the vehicle communications environment as a whole. By working within JLR and taking part in consortium projects containing multiple OEMs, I was able to both provide for customers and address the key technical and sociological issues associated with the development of vehicle level direct communications.

For this role I was primarily responsible for the design and delivery of research projects through to core engineering teams, following a documented development process. In addition to this, I also conducted research on new technologies and communications features to ensure that Jaguar Land Rover would be at the forefront of the automotive industry.During my time within this team, I led the development of three projects through to the Concept Ready stage and developed proposals for multiple new and unique features alongside this. Following the completion of the Jaguar Land Rover Graduate Scheme, I joined the company as a Product Development Engineer. I continued to work on multiple concurrent lighting projects, delivering lighting systems to premium vehicles and also gained experience working within the Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) team.In addition to continuing my previous role, I was hand picked to lead the technical development of a €2M unique JLR Lighting Control Module. The module will be used to deliver advanced lighting features across a full range of JLR vehicles and will be the first time such a module has been used within the company. As part of my Product Development role, I regularly developed documents and practices that have since been adopted across multiple teams with the Electrical department. These include a document used to collect the current consumption data for lighting features to allow comparisons with the vehicle capabilities and a complete re-write of the testing process documentation for the advanced parking systems. Both of these tasks helped to improve the efficiency and accuracy of their respective processes by providing a more consistent and robust framework.I was instrumental in the development and integration of two new team members since completing the Graduate scheme. This involved introducing them to the business practices and also aiding their technical development. The second significant placement I completed whilst on the Jaguar Land Rover Graduate Scheme was within the PR team. This placement helped me to significantly improve my knowledge of the company as a whole and its interactions with the public. I attended multiple events as part of the Jaguar PR team including general press days and supporting journalists on specific stories.An additional part of this placement allowed me to use my technical knowledge to improve the press vehicle tracking documents for the PR department as a whole. I began my career at Jaguar Land Rover on the Graduate Development Scheme within the Electrical Lighting Department. After gaining company knowledge through a multitude of internal training courses, I was tasked with being the sole system engineer responsible for delivering both the interior and exterior lighting systems on three concurrent projects. These projects include the Jaguar F-Type and the new Jaguar XE. As part of my role, I regularly liaised with suppliers to ensure that all lighting features were delivered on time and performed in-depth electronic analysis and testing on both individual lighting features and the entire lighting system. I also participated in multiple technical trouble shooting and cost analysis exercises that ensured the product fitted to the car was befitting of a premium company such as Jaguar Land Rover. I was also regularly selected to visit the vehicle builds as the sole representative of the Lighting Team to trouble shoot any issues on vehicles.At the end of the Graduate Scheme I was taken on as a full time employee at Jaguar Land Rover and remained within Lighting.Key Responsibilities: - Leading the Technical Development of Multiple Lighting Systems. - Project Management. - Team Working.

As part of the completion of the Jaguar Land Rover Graduate scheme, I completed a placement within the Hybrids Advanced controls team. Whilst on this placement I gained first hand knowledge of Hybrid vehicle architectures and systems and also improved my MatLab programming knowledge. My main focus of the placement involved completing a project creating a Graphical User Interface for a program that calculated the battery usage and emissions of a hybrid vehicle over the course of a specific drive cycle and then saved this data within an interactive Excel spreadsheet. I visited the teams that used the program, developed a list of their requirements and then ensured the software met their needs. Once the GUI had been fully developed, I created a user guide for the software to aid other teams to successfully operate the program. To my knowledge, the GUI is still used today by various teams within the Hybrids department.Key Responsibilities: - Delivering Bespoke, User Friendly Software for Hybrid Vehicle Control Testing. - Requirements Gathering and Assessment. - Project Management.

As part of my degree, I completed a three month placement within a leading digital media company. This placement allowed me to implement the knowledge and skills gained from my university work and also gave me my first experiences of corporate engineering practices. My main role within the company involved developing and implementing a testing strategy for returned Digital TV boxes. In order to do this, I was required to quickly develop an in depth knowledge of the devices and subsequently creatively develop comprehensive testing strategies.As an addition to my original role, I soon became the sole operator of the company's customer services centre, providing technical support for all UK customers.
