After working as a senior iOS Engineer for a year, I wanted a new challenge to continue my growth, leading me to start my own company. The company began as a side project in July 2022, and I started working full time on this project in February 2023.Under the Hacked Reality brand, I have completed a number of development contracts, worked on multiple indie apps, and have delivered talks at multiple tech meet ups and conferences. I am constantly searching for new and exciting projects and challenges.My work here includes working with a football tips service to create their app (launched in January 2023) and working with a client to help develop a new article viewer SDK.

I worked for Experian for 3 years, starting as a mid-level iOS engineer before being promoted to a senior iOS engineer at the start of 2022. My main focus for the major of my time at Experian was build an experience optimisation system, creating different experiences for different users, allowing the company to chase key results. This task directly lead to a major uplift in numbers across multiple key result areas.At my time at Experian, I also lead the implementation of many new features, helping these progress from a planning stage to delivery. I also played a key role in architectural discussions and mentoring members of the team.

As an iOS developer for PageSuite, I have played a major role in the creation of a new iOS template solution that can offered to multiple major news providers around the world. The app is able to be modified via a backend configuration, and be adapted to work for a number of different feeds, designs, and flows at the request of different clients. This app has been released for major news companies such as Dallas Morning News and Daily Express (released as new updates in December 2019), with more versions of the app scheduled to be released in the coming weeks.My iOS skills have greatly increased during my time at PageSuite, including gaining experience working with push notifications, in app purchases and subscriptions, analytics, downloading system, working with APIs, and creating reusable code in frameworks and pods, in addition to building strong skills in UIKit and Swift. Whilst it is limited experience, at PageSuite I have also gained some experience with Android development (using Kotlin), Flutter development and Angular web development.Here, I have also gained experience at working in an Agile environment here.

I was involved in a project to teach young adults how to code in my local town of Sheerness, on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. Following £48,000 of funding from the Colyer-Fergusson Charitable Trust, this was my focus for two years, helping me teach up to 40 people how to code in Swift, including a group of 13/14 year old school students who released their first iOS app in February 2018.

I started Matt Heaney Apps as a hobby and it became a self-employment venture. Matt Heaney Apps, which is a YouTube channel which teaches people how to make iPhone games and apps using the code language Swift, built an online following of 19,500 YouTube subscribers, from places ranging from America and Australia to Guadeloupe and Curaçao, in under 5 years. Whilst I have now made older videos private, the combined views of all my videos is over 1 million. I hope to return to Matt Heaney Apps one day to build towards 100,000 YouTube subscribers.

I was the coder and co-owner at a small iOS app development company called 3dotJ Studio. Here, we released Santa Calls You Free. Whilst this is a very simple app, it has been downloaded over 600,000 times, and in December 2016, it reached the top 50 of the UK App Store charts and number 1 in the Entertainment charts.
