About Matthew Frew

I am a third-year Electrical Engineering student at the University of British Columbia, passionate about computer hardware design, FPGA technology, and the electric power industry. My academic journey has provided me with a solid foundation in electrical engineering concepts such as computer hardware design, circuits, power, signals and control, and electromagnetics. Through various projects, including a Simple RISC Machine, a Baccarat Engine, Simon, an LCD Alarm clock and more, I have developed proficiency in languages including Verilog, C, and Assembly (ARM, 8051, etc.), as well as experience with tools like MATLAB, ModelSim, Quartus and various microcontrollers. Recently, I joined the UBC Rover design team, where I am actively contributing to the science module project within the science subteam. This exciting opportunity allows me to apply my skills in electrical engineering to develop innovative solutions and collaborate with a talented group of engineering students passionate about advancing space exploration technologyStarting in May 2025, I am available for a 16-month co-op / internship. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team, gain hands-on experience, and further develop my skills. If you are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic intern with a strong background in electrical engineering, I would love to connect and discuss how I can contribute to your organization.
