As a Store Associate at Homesense Nottingham I took on many responsibilities around the store. From processing products to be store ready to helping customers find products, this was a varied role that allowed me to develop many skills related to customer service.The largest part of this role was maintaining the store front by tidying my allocated sections, replacing purchased stock and helping maneuver heavy furniture. Some of these responsibilities required me to collaborate closely with my colleges, as there are a number of tasks that needed an extra pair of hands.

A varied role where I worked as part of a small team to help in the modification and distribution of cast iron pipework. In this role I designed CAD models, with supporting technical drawings and renders, of various sizes and types of pipe, including valves. When not on the computer, I was tasked with assembling orders for dispatching. This involved using two forklifts, one reach truck and one standard, to collect the desired pipes from around the warehouse. Some of these required a threaded hole for smaller branching pipes. The process of adding this involved drilling the hole, tapping the correct thread, inserting the branching piece, angle grinding the extra material, and repainting the bare metal.

This role involved being at the front of a small Sainsbury's store with responsibilities such as stock management, handling of money and assisting customers. Being part of a smaller store team allowed me the chance to engage in a variety of different tasks, and the flexible hours let me experience responsibilities related to opening and closing of the store. The biggest responsibility of this job was to engage with customers in a helpful and friendly manner, making sure they left the store satisfied with their products and experience. Other responsibilities involved restocking the shop floor, cleaning and tidying customer and employee areas, tracking stock using a mobile scanning device, and ensuring products were stored safely and securely.
