An Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at UIUC, my research focuses on the development of tools for the design, analysis, and optimization of non-conventional, supersonic and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Currently, I work on synthesizing models for predicting acoustic noise of urban air mobility (UAM) vehicles. It is an exciting time to be in aerospace as we look to address many of today's congestion problems around major cities and transit hubs such as airports. Though eVTOLs appear to answer to the shortcomings of commuter travel, public acceptability depends on their seamless (and quiet) integration. My work strives to make this a reality!I am a member of Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society; the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME); the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).

Graduate Student ResearcherStanford University Sep 2016 - Aug 2022Stanford, Ca- Developing low-fidelity noise estimation models for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft used in urban air mobility (UAM).- Creating tools for designing, analyzing and optimizing non-conventional commercial, supersonic and eVTOL aircraft. Integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategies for realizing aircraft models in previously unexplored regions of the design space. - Spearheading the implementation of Athena Vortex Lattice (AVL) into SUAVE, an environment for conceptual vehicle design and optimization developed by ADL. This addition extends SUAVE’s static and dynamic stability analysis of non-conventional aircraft configurations. -

Mechanical Engineering Computer Aided Design Teaching AssistantHoward University Aug 2013 - May 2016Washington D.C. Metro AreaInstructor for Basic to Intermediary Level CAD Design using NX 9.0 for Partners for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education (PACE) Institutions This class highlights Engineering Design to Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) and master model concepts. At the completion of the basic design portion of the class, students should be able to develop basic solid models as well as drawings using the master model concept. These concepts can be applied in the real world of innovation, product development and collaboration between other disciplines. -
Undergraduate ResearcherMassachusetts Institute Of Technology (Mit) Jun 2015 - Sep 2015Cambridge, MassachusettsI participated in the MIT Summer Research Program where I had the opportunity to work in the Device Research Lab headed by Professor Evelyn Wang, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering. The goal of this project is to develop a mathematical model to characterize water droplet evaporative cooling for localized air conditioning, specifically via jumping droplet condensation on superhydrophobic surfaces. It will be used to predict the size of droplets required to effectively cool the head and upper torso of an adult human being.Evaporative cooling, otherwise referred to as mist cooling is a heat and mass transfer process by which sensible heat from the surroundings is used to convert moisture from falling water droplets into vapor and in the process reducing the ambient temperature. This method of cooling has been proven to be more sustainable than existing devices that rely on moving mechanical parts and a coolant reservoir.
