Working as management in a very busy café restaurant, allowed me to build on my personal skills and utilise my previous experience. I have carried out all management responsibilities with a target driven focus to a high level and have strong organisation, planning and interpersonal skills. Colleagues would describe me as a hardworking, personable and approachable individual with a focus on excellent customer service. As the shift manager I communicate with the relevant management and contractors daily, discuss targets with head office and respond to customer reviews.

Temporary job after relocating. Here I carried out various tasks around the warehouse and learned new aspects of the industry. Although knowingly a temporary job, I approached this with an open mind keen to learn skills that I can use elsewhere. I utilised and improved my organisational and teamwork skills, and improved my self-motivation.

Here I managed a high traffic tourist restaurant and was able to apply and leave my own mark which was a great experience. I managed lots of staff and worked with seasonal rota’s and ordering where I was extremely organised and adaptable. I was the face of the restaurant and well presented, articulate and energetic in my role. Driving sales was an important aspect of the job, from upselling a cake to creating booking for functions and parties.

I lead a large team in an open pub and restaurant format, training and developing team members in service standards and company procedures. I was the designated duty manager, first aider and fire marshal in this fast-paced venue with high guest turnover. I learnt to manage my time more efficiently, became more organised and improved my communication skills within the team and general public. I adapted to faster paced management style but always focused on and maintained high levels of customer service. Taking on responsibilities within the hotel, I helped to run the food & beverage department, driving standards, creating rota’s and delivering training to staff. I was chosen to open the new restaurant/pub at another one of the companies venues, leading the operation including set up, staff training and epos set up. This role increased my responsibilities and helped me improve my time management skills and grow as a person.

Having started my career at Spitbank Fort as a Food and Beverage Assistant and working my way up to Management, it has enabled me to gain a thorough understanding of operations from senior level down. This role has taught me that high customer service should always come as standard and guest experience is key to delivering a high-quality product. The uniqueness of this venue came with challenging situations, I’ve had to adapt a strategic thinking mind to overcome them. Often being the only member of staff on board that is first aid trained and a fire marshal I’ve had great levels of responsibility trusted to me. Within this role I also played a part in creating and delivering several standard operating procedures which are now used business wide. Overall this job improved my determination, problem solving and communication skills.
