The Student Innovator of the Year competition is hosted by the BYU college of Engineering to allow students to bring their ideas to life. After creating an initial proposal of the idea, students are eligible to win preliminary funding to push their idea forward. Over the following months, students work to create a functional prototype, as well as developing the business model. During two rounds of competition, the projects are rated on Innovation, Engineering and Impact, requiring a very thorough design process. Out of the initial 70 applicants, my project received 4th place overall as well as 1700 dollars, including one of the highest engineering scores.
