Matthew matriculated with exemption from Fish Hoek High School in 1994 and had a brief stint in the sports retail industry before pursuing a professional Football career which lasted 18 years.He has attained a Bachelor of Arts degree (Political Leadership and Citizenship) through UNISA and is currently contributing to Supersport's domestic Football offering as a pundit.Booth also coaches at schools and local communities for initiatives hosted by The Booth Education and Sports Africa which is a registered NPO and whose offering includes bespoke Football clinics, Football events and infrastructure builds. Matthew is a consultant for Artificial Grass SA as he views artificial turf as the sensible choice for sport & recreational facilities due to water being such a scarce resource in Southern Africa. He also sits on the Disciplinary Committee panels for the Premier Soccer League and for the SA Institute for a Drug Free Sport (SAIDS).
