-Created a safe, warm, and welcoming environment for students with the use of restorative practices; including restorative circles, affirmative statements and restorative justice.-Established Wally Times, the first Wallenberg High School newspaper in many years and increased yearbook sales by 25% from previous year. -Attended four days of a Common Core R&D professional workshop, where I was trained with a scope and sequence and tools to begin curriculum mapping, unit planning, and lesson planning based on California Common Core Standards.-Prepared the English department, for the district transitional year (2013-2014), to switch to the use of California Common Core Standards by leading the department to collaborate and create common grade-level curriculum maps (6-8 week units) based off of a scope and sequence of California Common Core Standards. -Effectively implemented a thematic 9th grade curriculum map unit based on California Common Core Standards and student learning outcomes.-Led the English department to share, create, adjust, and align, common engagement strategies, checks for understandings and summative assessments. -Examined benchmark data with the English department to help create and implemented strategic plans to re-teach challenge standards.

-Contributed to the WASC process by evaluating, modifying and improving upon expected school-wide learning results.-Involved parents in scholar’s class affairs through meetings, weekly grade reports, calls home, and consistent emails.-Further integrated technology in the classroom through use of Turnitin.com, School Loop and Infinite Campus.

-Contributed to improving school image and community through promoting yearbook, organizing field trips and 8th grade team collaboration.-Designed an innovative achievement system to guide and motivate yearbook students.-Established an environment that successfully created and encouraged the love of reading and reflection.

 Incorporated a highly regarded novel writing project (NaNoWriMo) into the 8th grade curriculum. Heavily focused on technology in the classroom, including the use GoogleDocs, e-mail, and SmartBoard technology.-Facilitated a yearbook class: taught students corporation structure, how to use professional design software (InDesign and Photoshop), and photography skills. Sold over 600 copies and making over $4,000 profit for the school.-Composed and demonstrated weekly, school-wide TRIBES activities to faculty.-Organized and led training workshops for teachers on various educational software programs.

-Created and implemented a standards-based reading and writing English language arts curriculum for 6th and 7th grade.-Increased California Standard Writing Test scores from 5% of students scoring above 2 to 40% scoring 3 or above in a population with a 98% Latino demographic where most of the parents do not speak English.-Differentiated instruction for students with a wide range of English proficiencies ranging from newcomers with no English ability, to students with proficient and advanced English skills.-Integrated technology into classroom instruction and student activities including: PowerPoint presentations, Book Adventure, the use of technology for research, reports, and review and assessment games (Jeopardy, Millionaire).-Proactively created the first middle school and elementary school reading and writing buddies program.-Collaborated with the English department to develop 6th, 7th and 8th grade writing benchmarks.-Worked with 7th grade teachers to create and enforce consistent grade-level procedures and expectations.-Prepared and demonstrated safe and effective Physical Education procedures.Volunteered on a committee to create a comprehensive middle school discipline policy.-Acted as computer technician to develop, create, apply and maintain systems to over 200 computers throughout the school.
