Matthew Cameron Email and Phone Number
I am a versatile graduate mechanical engineer with over 25 years experience of design, production engineering, commissioning and maintenance in medium volume manufacturing and machinery of various types. In 2017 I achieved chartered status with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. I've had 3 years as a service engineer for CNC machinery, 16 as a project engineer moving to design engineer in sub-contract metalwork and electrical assembly, 8 with a more wide ranging technical role relating to material reduction machinery and system integration and installation. This also including times of being hired out as a design and manufacturing consultant for another company's products. In spring 2022 I moved to a more intellectually challenging role with a greater emphasis on technical detail. I am now part of a wider multi-skilled team of engineers, and will be developing my knowledge of solid mechanics, dynamics, control systems and using my years of real-world experience of problem solving and delivery of solutions. In September 2024 I started an MSc apprenticeship in Systems Engineering at Cranfield University with the aim of enhancing HR Wallingford's ability to develop and deliver complex equipment and installations to our clients and support them over the full life-cycle.

Senior Design EngineerHqc Ltd Jan 2013 - Mar 2014Merseyside, United KingdomI supervised a small team of production engineers for a sub-contract manufacturing company working primarily for data-communications and medical equipment manufacturers in the UK, Europe and USA.As Senior Design Engineer I worked with our clients' engineers, to check their designs for suitability for manufacture. For some of the clients I worked directly with the market managers to clarify their end-users' needs before producing a design that met that need and complemented existing product ranges whilst minimizing production and stock costs. This was an area of work that grew as HQC's clients came to rely on our expertise, and created a much closer relationship between HQC and their clients. I carried out this design work in both 2D and 3D according to the complexity of the design and the needs of the client and our factory. As a competent and versatile engineer at a small company I had a variety of roles, and was also involved in sourcing components and services and supporting our suppliers as they brought new components into production for us. I have a hands-on approach and regularly led the assembly of prototypes and new products, and when needed reworked existing product to implement new features.I wrote manufacturing and test instructions. I designed and either procured or made both mechanical and electrical test equipment. Often I was able to diagnose faults and repair damaged machinery before the official service agent had been able to respond, this helped keep production schedules on track. I produced BOMs and supplied costing information to the sales team.As the needs of the business and skills of available colleagues changed over time I was involved in managing the QA and H&S systems and liaising with the external inspectors and auditors. -
