Technical Fellow & Technical Lead Engineer (retired) in Boeing Research and Technology, Metallic Materials and Processes Technology. My assignments includes the world’s largest aerospace-machined products facility. Working with Titanium, Inconel, High Strength Stainless Steels, Ultra High Strength Steels, Aluminum and Gear alloys. I have developed manufacturing processes applied to all modern Boeing Commercial Aircraft as well as Space and Defense applications. My work has reduced business plans by millions of dollars whilst producing products with higher fidelity. There was a substantial reduction in environmental impact and greenhouse gas emissions as my work replaced older methods. I have worked with leading researchers including in the United Kingdom, Singapore, Germany, Korea, Sweden, Italy, Japan and the United States. My niche is looking ahead to what the business will need and bringing technology across ‘valley of death’ to application. I have been involved with university researchers to develop metrics and tools to advance Sustainable Manufacturing. I am involved in ‘must succeed’ technology developments for next generation aircraft. Solving complex multi-variable ‘line stopper’ production problems where other very talented individuals have asked for help.MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington and a BSME from Portland State University. A Professional Engineer licensed in Oregon & Washington. President of the Oregon Metals Initiative a public-private partnership funding metals research in Oregon. Played a leading role in defining and standing up the North West Collaboratory for Sustainable Manufacturing, NWCSM. NWCSM is a partnership of manufacturers, universities, and government to leverage research in support of Oregon manufacturing. I led the transition of NWCSM to standing up of the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center, OMIC, where I served as Chair of the Board of Governors during critical incubation and start up period. Have served as Boeing Representative to the Advanced Manufacturing Research Center, AMRC, Technical Board in Sheffield UK, transitioning the research focus to Fabrication and standing up Boeing’s first green field manufacturing facility outside the US, Boeing Sheffield.5 US patents, (1) pending.Academy of Distinguished Alumni Portland State University.
