My research interests lie primarily in the field of cellular immunology and assay development. During graduate school, my research focused heavily on the design and testing of new therapeutic options for treating autoimmune diseases. Through this work, I developed a deeper understanding for cellular immunology and gained experience in developing and executing both in vivo and in vitro assays (including primary and immortalized cell lines). These projects were highly collaborative with fellow scientists who were experienced in chemical synthesis, and, as a result, interpersonal and communications skills were necessary in designing and developing therapeutic molecules for further testing. I am highly motivated by the desire to discover, and this is one of the reasons I have found immunology to be such an intriguing field. Elucidating cellular responses to potential drug candidates requires diligent assay design and careful interpretation, and I have found that discussing these intricacies with fellow scientists is the most rewarding part of research.
