Responsible for improving the performance and reliability of an established ECommerce platform. Examples of work included diagnosing and resolving performance issues, assisting in migrating the platform to the cloud on AWS, shifting from a local caching strategy to a centralized cache server to allow for horizontal scalability, ensuring all existing code followed security best practices for PCI compliance, refactoring legacy code, increasing unit test coverage, and fixing numerous bugs. Helped to develop software for use in Dr. Rafael Tadmor's Chemical Engineering research. Software analyzed images of drops of liquid to gather information such as what contact angle the drop made with the surface. The majority of this project is closed source, but we did release a JNI wrapper on Github that allows Java to interface with Point Grey cameras.
