Tree Preservation Australia (TPA) is a new generation partnership formed by two of Australia’s leading practitioners in biologically driven Plant Health Care (PHC) - a method of soil and plant management increasingly practiced overseas but relatively new to Australia. Matthew Daniel, a scholarship arborist of 20 years standing and with 3 years of PHC experience in Boston, USA , and Gerhard Grasser, an agricultural consultant and biological farmer for 30 years combine their wide knowledge, skills and resources to provide a unique focus on restoring urban trees and landscapes.With over a decade each intimately and scientifically working with soil microbiology and their interactions with plant roots in soils, Matthew and Gerhard are very capable of delivering a detailed and practical working adaptation of the essential microbiological relationship between soil health and plant health. This is sensitively achieved by careful and diligent data collection of the tree and plant environment assessing how the relationship between soil biology, chemistry and physical structure together drive the health and vigour outcomes of all plants. Armed with an elaborate collection of site sourced and laboratory information, TPA can develop remediation and maintenance programs based on natural processes enhanced by various biological stimulants achieving their potential to reduce decline and return the plant to an optimum level of vigour.

2006 – 2010 Owner/DirectorABCT Plant and Soil Health Care Pty Ltd.ABCT is an organic plant health care company that specializes in biological remediation in soil and, on to plant surfacesABCT services are used by local government all over SE Queensland, private residential clientele, agricultural enterprises Australia wide, and now overseas, China and Fiji. In June 2009 Matthew was contacted by Shandong Weilong Grape Vine Company in Shanghi China. This large corporate agricultural company employed Matthew to spend four months traveling throughout china to asses and consult on their soil and plant health. During this time in china Matthew directed this company to move from conventional agricultural input use to sustainable biological methodology, to ameliorate plant, soil health and increase crop production. Through two interpreters Matthew also delivered training to the Shandong staff on biological farming theory and practical skills in compost and compost tea production. Matthew returned to Australia from china with his Chinese interpreter to spend three weeks traveling in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria visiting ABCT clientele and large farming enterprises who are successfully engaged in biological farming. Matthew was contacted by Laucala Island Resort Fiji in August 2010 to visit the exclusive island to diagnose and remediate tree health problems throughout the island resort, this work is still ongoing. Matthew has developed an extensive knowledge and experience base in the field of biological remediation for arboriculture both in Australia and overseas. To date, he is the most experienced, dedicated and qualified SFI Arborist in Australia, developing and maintaining the highest standard at the forefront of this new field of sustainable plant and soil health care. Matthew intends to further develop, introduce and deliver training in sustainable biological remediation and maintenance to Australian Arboriculture.
