I have been in the motor trade for 29 years, in that time I have been a PSV mechanic, emergency vehicle technician, and roadside breakdown mechanic with the AA. After completing my apprenticeship at a small village garage where I also gained welding and fabrication skills. I moved into the position of a PSV mechanic, working shifts carrying out servicing and repairs to the depot's fleet of buses.I moved to Sussex police's workshops as a fleet technician. My job involved servicing and repairing the force cars and plant items. I also carried out vehicle builds of several covert vehicles, involving the fitting of extra equipment ie sirens, blue lights, etc.I spent 11 years as a roadside technician with the AA. This involved working in all weather conditions and working a variety of shifts. I would often receive commendations from members for the service I gave to them.I left the AA after eleven years to expand my industry experience. I worked as a contract vehicle technician, traveling to various dealerships throughout the UK. This would often be at short notice and involve me staying away from home for varying periods. I was awarded Contractor of the Year in 2018, due to my work ethic and dedication to my placements. I returned to a permanent technician role with a Volvo dealer, carrying out diagnostic tasks and working towards my Master technician certification. I used manufacturer and generic diagnostic tools along with a PICO oscilloscope daily. I am an IMI level 2 hybrid-trained technician, working on hybrid and full HV-powered cars daily.In 2022, I moved to my current role with Microlise as a technical hardware engineer. I install and carry out service calls on our telematics, camera systems, and direct vision standard equipment. I travel nationally often, staying away from home as and when required. I am undertaking a BSc (honors) combined STEM degree at the Open University.
