I'm Matthew E. Garcia, named an "Education Equalizer" by the TED Fellows. Though I was trained as a stem cell & regenerative biologist, I am also an experienced non-profit leader, an educational consultant for major U.S. endowments at WolfBrown, and a program design researcher who has created three high-impact virtual education organizations and secured strategic national partnerships that foster transformative experiences for BIPOC youth.At 19 years old, as the former Executive Director at Through the Staff and the Pre-College Research Institute, I spearheaded thousands of Gen-Z volunteers to deliver over $2.4 million in program impact, dramatically increasing educational access for over 1,000 BIPOC youth across 40+ U.S. states and four countries. Now, as a Board Director, I advise both organizations' Executive Teams as they scale operations, improve program experiences, and define strategies to ensure the longevity of our educational impact.I also lead the Amistad Foundation, founded by 20 Harvard alumni, aiming to democratize philanthropy by empowering a new generation of BIPOC donors.
