We are Solar Driven®.Matt has been an entrepreneur and small business owner for over twenty years. He opened his first bicycle shop, BioWheels, in Cincinnati, OH in 1993 and opened a second shop in Asheville, NC in 1999. Matt led BioWheels to 20% annual growth, selling over 16,000 bicycles in 15-years. In 2007 he oversaw expansion of the Asheville store, designing and managing the construction of the first commercial green building in Western North Carolina. Since co-founding Brightfield Transportation Solutions in 2009, Matt has been responsible for product design and patenting, project management, vendor relationships, and business administration. Matt graduated cum laude from the Univ. of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and is currently participating in Elevate, an MIT-designed mentor program that provides training for founders transitioning companies from start-up to high-growth.

Oversaw the development of all Brightfield TS Products, patented the Charging Bollard, created entire company and vision, raised funds from ARRA, and NCGBF, Nissan. At onset of Covid epidemic, our seed investors shut down the company by calling their note after the board had chosen to put all our energy into a couple big contracts that never came to fruition. I was only team member that was prepared for the long game.

Founder of BioWheelsCo-founded store in 1993As a bicycle enthusiast since childhood, I designed and opened my first store in Cincinnati, OH at age 24 in order to share my passion with others. From $0 to over $1 million revenue in 6 years, I always believed in providing customers with our innovative 'interactive service'. We launched our 1st website in 1997. The next 10 years was blissful. BioWheels Racing enjoyed tremendous sponsorship, and our team raced, usually to the podium, every other weekend. In 2000, I opened a second store in Asheville, NC and continued to see double digit growth while simultaneously managing, racing and raising my daughter, Hyla. In 2009, I designed and built the first commercial green building in WNC in order to house the growing business. BioWheels has sold almost 20,000 bikes since opening.
