Working with Government, employers and the media to further the aims of the union and engaging in negotiation and conducting a wide range of in-depth research.Key achievements:• Instrumental in developing and leading the pioneering Ethical Care campaign to improve the standard of social care across the UK which has seen the Charter being adopted by more than 60 local councils.• Campaigning work and constructive engagement with Government led to the introduction of itemised pay slip legislation to help improve pay transparency for low paid workers.• Sole trade union representative on a range of Department of Health and Social Care social care working groups with my input leading to tangible improvements to the pay and working conditions of care workers, particularly during the pandemic. • Analytical and research work on the failure for homecare workers to be paid for their travel time secured extensive high profile media coverage, parliamentary interest and subsequent positive engagement with government bodies. • Innovative campaigning work which raised awareness about the funding crisis facing local government and helped contribute to an improved financial settlement for the sector.
