Essentially my role whilst working as a delivery driver at Dominos meant that I was responsible for all food and beverage items to be delivered to the customer. Whilst delivering, I also had to abide by covid-19 restrictions and perform contactless deliveries at the doorstep of customers and rely on detailed knowledge of street locations within a 5-mile radius of the store. With customer satisfaction the ultimate marker of a successful delivery, as a delivery driver, it was my responsibility to ensure that a customer received their order within a certain period of time whilst still driving safely. Ultimately, I enjoyed working at dominos, as I thrived on the fast-paced nature of the role and the sense that no day was the same.

Primarily my role at the Welsh Refugee Council included assisting a case worker in dealing with the various obstacles faced by asylum seekers as they attempt to integrate themselves into UK society e.g. Enrolling clients onto ESOL courses, setting up universal credit. My role allowed me to build upon key admin responsibilities such as updating and maintaining documents, as well as being able to communicate effectively whilst operating the office telephone where it wasn’t uncommon for me to be tasked with speaking to the home office on behalf of clients. My experience also allowed me to improve my interpersonal skills where I often had to engage with clients who had limited proficiency in speaking English.

During my time at Lidl, I took part in a number of activities which helped in the everyday running of the store. Working alongside a busy team, I was often involved in the stock control procedure which involved ensuring that the allocation of stock within the store was to a satisfactory standard. I also took part in the routine maintenance of keeping the store tidy and clean. Serving customers on the checkouts was also a common part of my role, where I was often credited due to my politeness and willingness to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Ultimately I enjoyed my time at Lidl as it allowed me to refine my interpersonal skills through my interactions with customers, as well as with other members of the store team. Similarly, my tenure at Lidl also allowed me to enhance my time management and problem-solving initiative, not only through facing the everyday challenges inherent to retail, but also as I worked at Lidl alongside the years I undertook my A levels in college.
