Served as project manager for the Tanaga Island Phase III Remedial Investigation and Risk Assessment. Field effort included operation of a 24-person remote field camp for two months and collection of over 1,900 soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment samples.

In my previous position at an Alaska Native Corporation-owned 8(a) firm focused on environmental remediation, I served as program manager, project manager, and technical lead, and directly supervised approximately half of the Anchorage office’s full-time technical staff. As a program manager, I oversaw a nationwide term contract held with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to investigate and remediate leaking underground storage tank sites on Indian Lands across the Lower 48. As the primary project manager, I oversaw the company's largest projects for federal clients as well as projects for private and commercial projects. In addition to project management, I prepared proposals, including preparing cost estimates and technical approaches for competitive bids.

Galore Creek, British Columbia

Worked as a geologist at a remote mineral deposit in northern British Columbia. Primary tasks included locating drill pad sites using GPS and GIS software, surveying drill hole locations, and verifying that drill sites were properly reclaimed per the environmental permit. Project received an award for outstanding environmental achievement from a Canadian Ministry of Energy research committee on mining reclamation. Site challenges included helicopter access, dense brush through highly variable terrain, and heavy bear presence.

Las Vegas, Nevada Area

While working on a M.S. in the Geosciences Department at UNLV, taught several undergraduate courses, including labs for Geology 101, Remote Sensing, and GIS. Master’s thesis project was a study of the petrogenesis and geochemistry of a young mafic volcanic field in southwestern Utah, and included GIS mapping of multiple lava flows and collecting rock samples for laboratory analysis. Analyzed samples for mineralogy, chemical composition, and several isotope ratios. Interpreted analytical data to make determinations about the tectonic environment present beneath the boundary between the Basin and Range and Colorado Plateau physiographic provinces.

Worked in the environmental permitting department preparing environmental assessments (EAs), findings of no significant impact (FONSIs), and other documents under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Worked on documents for infrastructure projects across Alaska. Performed Phase I Environmental Site Assessments for state and federal clients. Supervised a project indexing mineral exploration documents generated by partners of Cook Inlet Region, Inc. Native Corporation. Also performed baseline sampling of surface water, sediment, and vegetation within the footprints of proposed rural projects.
