Executive Officer of a cavalry troop within the Armored Reconnaissance Squadron for 1ABCT, 3rd Infantry Division. Responsible for the maintenance and logistic support of an 80 Soldier cavalry troop, consisting of two cavalry platoons, a headquarters platoon, and a mortar section; served as the troop maintenance and supply officer. Assumed command in the commander's absence. Served as the 2IC for the commander in all matters affecting the troop, ensuring accurate and timely tactical reports were sent to the squadron. Worked closely with the Troop 1SG as the primary CSS planner and coordinator, planning and supervising all CSS efforts prior to the battle. Operated as the troop liaison to the forward support company (FSC).

Served as a Platoon Leader for an Armored Reconnaissance Squadron of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division. Selected by the Squadron Commander to serve as the Platoon Leader of the Combined Task Force Raider Brigade Personal Security Detachment (PSD) deployed to Zabul Province, Afghanistan. Responsible for the transportation, security and personal safety of the Brigade Command Group during all key leader engagements and movements across the battlefield. Responsible for the accountability, maintenance, and tactical deployment of nine Mine-Resistant All Terrain Vehicles (M-ATV) and associated equipment valued in excess of $15 million. Responsible for the tactical employment, training, morale, and care of 18 Cavalry Troopers while deployed to a combat theater of operations.
