Dr. Matthew Gerth is an associate professor in the School of Law and Political Sciences at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK). He is a political and intelligence historian, whose research focuses on Atlantic World anti-communism during the Cold War.He has recently published articles in this field with the Australian Journal of Politics and History, History: The Journal of the Historical Association, International Journal of Intelligence and Counterintelligence, and Diplomacy & Statecraft. His new book, Anti-Communism in Britain During the Early Cold War: A Very British Witch Hunt (April 2023) is now available from University of London Press and University of Chicago Press. Matthew holds an associate teaching fellowship from the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), as well has been awarded a Royal History Society fellowship (FRHistS) for original contribution to historical scholarship. He is also an honorary commissioned colonel in the Kentucky state militia. This is the highest title of honor bestowed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Following in Kim Philby’s footsteps, he currently lives and works in Lebanon.
