I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Fisheries and Marine Institute at Memorial University of Newfoundland. I am devoted to developing effective policy, research, and analysis in many areas of government and academia, including mental health and addictions, public safety, disability inclusion, education, and labour. Given my extensive experience planning and coordinating research and policy projects in large team settings, long history of commitment to improving Canadian institutions through political engagement, passion for teaching, and sharp negotiation and consultation skills, I am certain these qualifications make me a strong candidate for various positions in these sectors.As outlined in my curriculum vitae, I have exceptional writing and communication skills, evidenced by the fact that I have published over fifty (50) peer reviewed journal articles, books chapters, and provincial government reports, many of which are relevant to the fields of mental health, public safety, criminology, sociology, education, and research methods. I have been awarded five research grants at the federal and provincial levels. I have also served on a number of research teams throughout my career, many of which I have led. I have had a number of policy accomplishments at Health PEI during my tenure as a Policy Analyst.My rich career in research prior to entering the Policy sector began with doctoral research that examined the lived experiences of mental health survivors in Ottawa, Canada. My current postdoctoral research project at Memorial University of Newfoundland assesses the mental health frameworks and needs of provincial and territorial correctional workers in Canada. There, our diverse team has produced a number of reports and research articles outlining solutions to the occupational mental health challenges found in provincial and territorial correctional systems across Canada.In closing, I look forward to connecting with people in the policy and research sectors.
