Research intern and Midwest Educational Liaison Group Award recipient. Project title: The association of kidney function with all-cause and cause-specific mortality risk in the Irish Health system: a retrospective cohort study.

• Co-op student and research analyst on the Health Hazard team of the Environmental Health division• Coordinated with a working group involving representatives from Public Health Ontario, York Region Public Health, Toronto Public Health, and Peel Public Health to lead a program evaluation of an existing risk communication intervention• Responsible for qualitative research analysis of existing fish mercury advisory and its delivery in a regional context.• Conducted a comprehensive review of existing and relevant literature on the effectiveness of consumption advisories and toxicological guidelines in modifying behaviours, knowledge and attitudes in the general population, and more specifically in women of childbearing age, pregnant women and mothers of children under the age of 6.

• Field Work: Collection of water samples in various commercial aquaculture sites around Newfoundland. Work included sample collection, driving trucks with trailers across the province, recording GPS position of sample and performing detailed measurements of pH, temperature and coliform bacteria levels.• Lab Work: Preparation of media, testing of water samples for presence of fecal coliform bacteria, data entry, as well as maintenance and upkeep of boats, trucks and lab equipment.

• Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of campers, planning of trips and decision making under unpredictable conditions• Led 2- to 6-day canoe trips during the summer on the waters of Georgian Bay. Created a safe and interactive environment for campers.
