I am the Legal Practice Director of Lang Litigation and Construction Law, a boutique commercial disputes and construction law firm.I provide advice in all areas of law relating to construction and engineering projects and commercial disputes from large scale infrastructure and commercial projects to residential developments. I have 20 years’ experience in litigation and construction law. I was formerly a Partner at WA’s largest independent law firm in the Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team and have worked on some of the most significant infrastructure, construction, mining and engineering projects in Western Australia. Prior to that, I worked at a top tier national law firm in both Major Projects and Dispute Resolution.I have extensive experience in contract negotiation, drafting and contract management and provide bespoke legal advice for all stages of construction projects and claims management. I act on behalf of clients in all forms of dispute resolution, including adjudication, arbitration, expert determination and litigation before Courts and Tribunals.Some of my recent experience includes:Acting for and advising a specialist contractor in Supreme Court proceedings involving claims and counterclaims totalling in excess of $13 million;Representing a multinational technology subcontractor in claims arising from the construction of a major public hospital;Acting on behalf of a leading luxury home builder in commercial arbitration involving claims totalling $15 million;Acting for an international developer advising on matters arising from the construction of a high-rise mixed use and residential development;Acting on behalf of owners and builders in proceedings in the State Administrative Tribunal.I hold a Masters degree in law from the University of Queensland, with a specialisation in litigation and dispute resolution. I previously lectured in business law at Charles Darwin University in the Northern Territory. I am currently a member of the Housing Council of the Master Builders WA. I regularly present to clients and industry groups on developing areas of law, including Security of Payment, construction contracts and the management of construction claims.
