The Council's lead on all 'Place' based matters including Planning Policy, Development Management, Planning Enforcement and Building Control. Working effectively with Members, Colleagues, Nation Wide House Builders and bespoke Developers, other Local Authorities and external agencies such as the NHS, Highways England and Homes England.

This post is a challenging and diverse role. It requires the balancing of service lead priorities (Development Management, Corporate Enforcement, Building Control and the Tree Service) and delivering improvements to these services alongside a need to think corporately and to assist in the improvement of the entire authority.

The role involves managing Maldon District Council's Development Management Team, Corporate Enforcement Team and the Tree Service. I am also involved in strategic, authority wide, projects.

I currently am the Team Leader for the Development Management Team with Maldon District Council.My role involves managing a team of planners and enforcement officers, whilst dealing with strategic planning applications and providing professional advice and guidance to elected members.Maldon is currently going through a restructure that is providing new challenges and opportunities on a daily basis.

My current role involves dealing with a variety of planning applications including ‘major’ applications, retrospective applications and applications that are considered likely to have a political nature to them. I also currently deal with the majority of larger appeals (including all Public Inquiries) that are made against decisions by Southend Borough Council’s planning department.
