I am an experienced creative and social enterprise practitioner, academic, manager and trainer. I worked until 2021 as a Senior Lecturer in Enterprise Education at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School. Recent posts include Senior Research Associate and Social Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Lancaster Management School, after a stint teaching at Leeds Enterprise Centre, Leeds University Business School. I am a founding Director of Shared Future CIC https://sharedfuturecic.org.uk/ and of the Melodrome Mobile Stage CIC http://melodromestage.co.uk/ , which are both not-for-profit projects.Previous posts have included Senior Lecturer in Social Enterprise at the University of Cumbria and I have experience as a Chief Executive, Change Manager and Director of UK charities, social enterprises and arts organisations. I have delivered master classes and in-service training to senior managers of commercial and social enterprises and to charity managers, to the Association of Islamic Schools head teachers, to Trade Unions, to Doctoral student residentials and to public service commissioners. I am also active as a Trustee of local Charities, currently involved as Chair of Escape2Make, a young people's creative arts charity. I have also worked, intermittently and occasionally, in the theatre and music industries as a sound engineer and lighting designer.
